Best known for their rubber bass sounds, the DX21 and DX27 are as raw and gritty as you can get with FM synthesis. Now you can tweak these FM classics from within Ableton with this Max for Live device:
Control Yamaha DX21, DX27 and DX27s hardware synths
Sysex connection between your DAW and synth to read and write patches, and to tweak all parameters from the editor in realtime
Dynamic visualization of all algorithms, waveforms and envelope shapes
Copy and paste mode to easily sync operator settings and envelopes between several operators
Function settings and routing for external controllers like mod wheel and foot and breath controllers
Initialize all parameters to start from scratch
Save and load patches as single files to and from your computer and enjoy unlimited patch storage on your hard drive
Includes two dedicated editor devices for DX21 and DX27/DX27s
What You'll Get
The download contains the following items, packaged in a zip file:
Info sheet with setup instructions and troubleshooting
Folder with example patches
Please note that you need a DX21, DX27 or DX27s, as this editor is meant to control those synths – it won't make any sound by itself. Instructions how to connect the editor with your synth and some example patches are included in the download.
The editor works with every Ableton version since Live 10 (when Ableton integrated Sysex support). It requires Max for Live, which is included with Live Suite.
